    HI All

So last weekend I bought 6 cories, 2 of each.

    copper
    sterbai
    peppered

The copper cories are a bit bigger than the other 4 but they area ll sharing food and seems to be getting along.

I did google and found mixed answered on this, are these numbers be enough considering the different species, or should i look at getting more of each species?

It is usually recommended to stick with 6 or more of each species, but cories do generally clump together and work as a group. If your tank is big enough, i would recommend upping the numbers of each. Alternatively, see which one you like the looks of most, return the others, and get more of the favourite.

As far as I have it 6 of the same species is much better than 2 of each.

I noticed that the copper cories are chilled while he other 2 species seemed very shy. This never seemed to bug them in my big unplanted tank years back when I mixed them, but in the 60L it seems to be an issue. Not sure if the shrimp are scary to them lol

Agree with the others. I would have suggested 6 of 1 type rather
They are still relatively new. As they settle down, the shy ones should become less so.

I currently have 3 x Bronze and 2 x Albino in a tank and for the most part they hang out together. May get one more Albino, because OCD...

The albinos are usually albino bronzes so they’d count as 1 species

The shrimp could end up getting eaten, especially when the Corries get bigger

At one stage i had 2 or 3 of each species and they just all hang out together, never had a problem...
But i suppose ideally, they say 5 of each
The shy ones usually come out their shell as they get older like most catfish

I did a head count this afternoon after a WC, the copper and the sterbai are active and look happy, sometimes together, sometimes seperate 2 man schools. The pepper cory I can only find one, and compared to the others he does not seem to be in good health, just mostly sitting still and the 2nd one I cant find. Not sure if its because something is wrong or because my adult shrimp are bigger than they are at this stage, but if i dont see the 2nd pepper cory I will have to tear my planted tank up tomorrow to see if i can find him

What’s your temp at? Cause peppers don’t handle higher temps but sterbais and bronzes don’t mind

Ok so temp is not the issue then. But shame you say they’re smaller than your shrimp still? Babies

    That's (too) low for C.sterbai.

C.aeneus (bronze you probably mean) and C.paleatus don't mind.

I'd get some more of each species.

Thanks for pointing the temp out to me, I will try to return then and just get more copper/albinos as the pepper ones didn't look to good this morning before work

I find corys pretty shrimp safe actually. Or at least very easy on shrimplets, they’re not very interested.

Agree. Corys are pretty much safe for everything (except bloodworms, tubifex, brine shrimp and daphnia hahaha)
