I noticed that one of my cories had lost an eye in the last two or three days, and now i noticed on my new peppered cory's right side that the area where the fin just behind his gills meets his body, that "cartilage" area is red, like the fin took damage, or was attacked or pulled or something

in my signature are all the fish i have in the main tank, could any of them
"Neons, Glowlights, Sailfin Mollies, Bronze-, Albino-, Peppered-, Longfin Albino Zebra-, Leopard Danios, Platies, Guppies, Apple snails" have caused the damage to that fin, or the other's eye, or would the damage have been caused by environmental aspects in the tank?

    That sound bad dude,
I really hope you can sort it out and I don't think it a fish that caused it I think my be a parasite or a fungus or something...

Ferry... based on your other thread regarding your Corries eye... I would think you have something in the water that could be attacking the Corries at the moment.

They might be slightly stressed, and becoming suseptible to fungus, bacteria or something of that nature.

What have you dont differently in your tank over the past 3 or 4 days?
Have you tested your water perameters? are they normal?

okay. New question. One of my bronze cory females is, like, super plump, and has this odd white bulge of an underbelly, its a white rounded, protruding belly. Question is, is it sick with some kinda bloat belly whatchamicallit, or is it pregnant. It has had this look for a week or two weeks now. ? Anyone?

I think a pic would help us ID the "problem" Ferryman. How sure are you that it is a female though?

My first guess would be preggies though.

ive only got my cellphone connection now, plus that cory is fast and wriggly, getting a pic of its underbelly.. Ill try. . I think its female as when normal, she was plumpish with a curved underside, when laying on the ground the head/mouth didnt touch the substrate. The white, roundness starts from behind its head (below) upto where those second pair of fins behind its 'pectoral fins' are. Make sense? Btw, if preggs, how long are the eggs carried?

I don't know dude... When you do your next water change, lower the temp by a couple of degrees. This should induce spawning, if you have males in the tank. If she doesn't spawn, then she might have some kind of bloat or something similar...

hmmm my george has a similar bulge ferryman i just thought he was fat hehe could be george is a georgina, i might try dropping the temp in my tank a little as well see if that will get her and the danios to spawn. if you worried try a product called Heal All by Bio Elite its an awesome medicine, homeopathic and was the only thing that cleared up the ich i had in my tank a couple of months ago. it can be used to up the immune system and when adding new fish im busy dosing my tank now, ill do it for another day or so since i added the betta just in case and a small bottle lasts awhile. its got aloe something extract in, i rather like the Bio Elite products not being chemical and all.

really gareth26? i had a horrible time a few months ago, bought some neons and they brought in white spot and fin rot and i lost all of the neons and both my guppie males and 2 females about half of what i had in my tank, fred and george still bear the split fins from that incident hence ill never get neons again! heal all was the only thing that sorted it out.out of curiosities sake what do you use? its always a good idea to know what others use for treatment you never know when you might need to know an alternative product

I prefer the tetra Product range.... the reason I dislike heal all it I lost about R600 worth of fish that got whit spot and everybody told me heal all is the best I bought a few bottles of it and it did nothing and I lost some of my nicest fish..... but that was my experience so I will never use it again... I stick to tetra products they seem to work 100%

Hi Guys, i have had a similar problem with one of my Cory's, all was well for about a month they were all diggin away happily like little miners, when earlier this weekend i noticed that the one was rather fat when compared to the others, i thought that it was just from being a bit of a glutton, as i had purchased a new sinking food for them. However over the course of the weekend it became more and more agitated swimming around midwater a lot, and preferring to sit on top of the leaves of the taller plants near the surface. This morning at about 7am the behaviour was the same, until about 9am when my girlfriend discovered it belly up and dead on the bottom!!! Needless to say I'm very bummed and rather worried about the other inhabitants of the aquarium, however none of the other fish, including the other cories display any changes in behaviour or body whatsoever! Any ideas on what it might have been???

The water temp is 27.5 average, sometimes going up to 30 on really hot days (I plan on installing a fan system to help cool the tank soon) and rarely drops below 27deg. pH is 7.4, NO2 and NO3 are both zero GH is 4'd and KH is 3'd, chlorine is zero. Any advice would be appreciated!!!
