    Hi all
Getting back into owning a tank again

Managed to get a corner tank at a very good price secondhand

After doing some googling glass thickness was brought up.This is now a concern for me based on the design and size of the tank. I will try post a pic of the tank as well as dimensions

To start off all the glass is 6mm thick and the base plate looks thicker but cant measure it as there is foam in the way
the tank does have steel bracing around it as seen in the pic except for the two smaller front panels

Based on the dimensions of the tank i hope i have not made a mistake especially in the height department

Your comments would be greatly appreciated as well as any suggestions as i love this tank and its gonna b perfect for its place in the lounge

    Regards

    Greg

In the tabs look next to the video reel. Click that and it will bring up the following

Click on "from Computer" and browse then upload.

6mm all round on 185L sounds a bit dangerous to me......

I've had a 220l tank with 6mm glass for many years with no problem.

Ok will have to describe dimensions as I cant get sketch up

Remember this is a corner tank

Two back panels are 680 mm 90degrees to each otherthen two panels 180mm which are 45 degrees at the front and the front pane is 800mm and height 530mm tank is braced all around at the bottom and top

Looking into the tankmfrom the top there are no cross braces

Any suggestions to reinforce current set up

    Thanks

If dont mind taking out a bit of extra cash and get a Eheim jager 200w heater will work just fine.

If u can get a cannister filter good.

sorry i cant help with the inter sump, i use canisters and the 6mm glass will be fine. as for the bracing some of the other members will be able to help u with that.

    200w heater will work there.

A brace is always a good thing. If you can do it then do it I say. As for an internal sump I would rather go for a Canister Filter as rednox said

here is an overflow for an external sump:

DIY Overflow and sump Using - Professor Dirk Bellstedt Designs

but im assuming your looking for something like this:

    Tropical Aquariums South Africa

Basically its a squere with a pump at the bottom and all the media on top of it and one side has an overflow that runs in to it and the media is in container for easy cleaning,

@The BARB King should be able to help you out with building an internal filter, I can find his tank thread under member systems at the moment.

Here is a picture of my in tank filter. You can do a similar thing against one of the side walls.
