    hey guys

so i couldnt believe it when i checked my tank on monday and found the cories spawning:bigsmile:, now iv always had a hunch that one of my bronzes was a female aand hey i was right so george is now officially rechristened georgina lol:p. i think the spawn was triggered when my water tempreture dropped because my heater came unplugged, i was horrified when i found it and plugged it back in and rather anxiously watched the temp climb back up lol. still no harm done and i had eggs all over the plants and sides of the tank, unfortunatly the tank mates ate most of the eggs today and there seems to be nothing left so im wondering if theres something that i could put in the tank for them to spawn on next time which will make egg removal easier? i would like some little cories swimming around.

to cap it all tonight i was feeding and found that my snail had laid another set of eggs:bigsmile:, the last ones were duds im afraid i think it had to do with moving them and the humidity level. ill leave the new eggs where they are and iv placed a polystyrene tray with a lil bit of water underneath for when the eggs hatch, ill then transfer them out and away from momma. my snail is now in the community tank and seems much happier and active, i was a bit worried as in the guppy tank id find her floating freely most mornings and i think the guppies were nipping her.
well thats my good news for the week, the bad news is im having my wisdoms out on friday:eek:, still i suppose i could say that at least ill get a bit of time to watch my fish lol.

Mine spawn like clockwork every two or so weeks.

Gave up saving the eggs long ago.

Having said that, speaking to Gav from Fish nook recently, and he mentioned that you can scrape them off and them put htme in a small aerated container.

    Speak to him for clarification

Windfire, cories normally spawn on the sides of the tank, and sometimes on wide-leafed plants as well.
To get wrigglers, this is my recipe. Maybe it helps.
If find that cories normally spawn in the morning.
That evening I take a clean razor blade and removed all the eggs and place them in an ice cream container.
I float the container in a tank (to keep the water in the container warm) and place an airstone in the container.
I do a 50% water change of the container everyday, replacing the water in the container, with water from one of my tanks.
Within 3 to 4 days you will have wrigglers.
Works for me every time. I am sure there are better/other ways, but for me this works really well.
Some people put a drop or two of meth blue into the container with the eggs as well, but I have so few that fungus, that I don't even bother with that.
Give me a shout if I can help you more.
    HIH

Congrats on the cory spawn pity all the eggs got eaten, hope they spawn again soon. I can't wait for my corys to start spawning ( i loooove corys ).
My snails also went lighter after laying thier eggs i tried putting crushed shells in the filter, it's been about a month and i haven't seen any improvement yet so i hope theirs someone else on the forum with a solution.
BTW speaking from experiance you are going to look like a bullfrog after friday for about a week. Shame good luck hope all goes well.

thanx bauer im really not looking forward to it especially the whole liquid diet thing as i been on it for a week already. anyway as to the calcium supplement i consulted the great god google, hehe, and some people use cuttlefish, now from what i can gather this is for terrestrial snails but im sure i can use it. they mention it gets slimy if exposed to too much moisture so im thinking of breaking off some pieces and anchoring them on the bottom, i dont think it'll affect the fish, but maybe the pH?

@Gilbert14: It's what works for me. With my last spawn that I took out, I hardly lost any eggs. I think maybe 10 at the most.
