Wanted: Cool pleco/catfish

Good evening.

Looking for cool plecos or catfish for sale in pretoria.. like 5-7cm in size..

 

Describe cool.... Lol

Hahah sorry... but like a green phantom.. gold nugget. .. candy striped... but not from a pet store.. as they are insane expensive..

Catfish would be like a Lima catfish or something unique.

 

Maybe someone here is breeding. Otherwise, I suggest you invest in a couple rare plecos, breed them, and try get your money back for it...

What kind of setup would you have for them? Would they be sharing with other species, or are you happy for them to have their own tank? Tank dimensions are also important; a 5-7cm catfish can easily be housed, but Limas can grow to 30cm pretty easily, and while they don't move a whole lot, they need the room both to turn (plus the extra water volume helps with their high-protein diet).

Also bear in mind that many "unique" fish, especially catfish, have specialised diets and may not convert onto a dry food diet. You may need to invest in a lot of frozen or live foods to keep them happy.

 

I would hey,but honestly speaking I'm not going to take a chance with breeding...

 

Okay. Well last time I checked, N1 is running a special on galaxy pleco's. R400 a pop. Unless you have really big tanks, I would suggest you rather stick to pleco's. Cats get massive. And if they don't have enough volume, their spines crimp up and they become deformed. I'm working on getting an importer license so that I can order stock from China, I have a mate there. They have tons of pleco's...
