Let them be ... the strong will survive, and always once or two weak ones also - weird how nature does that.

Just keep doing what you have been doing - but do not gravel vac for a while if that was one of your habits. I the water quality allows less WC or just smaller changes more frequent if it is really needed.

They have no special requirements but I have done both early removal and separate raise and let them be in the tank - think early removal made some bad parents down the line and the had to learn to raise fry years later. These a multi year fish ... not counting but I am well lover 4 years on some now.

You real call do you want to breed more this season - or only the one hatching. If more then allow them to stay in the tank till they are no longer being protected by the parents. Anything form 3 - 8 weeks.

Easy on the flash for those young eyes.

see the tank got some algae, will leave it for now.

it will help control nitrates, and not to sure, but maybe food for the fry too.

@f-fish what's the grow rate on the convict fry? slow or fast growers?

and suppose i will have to buy another filter to ad to the tank for when the fry grows out a bit...?

Using a HOB filter Resum hf-700 and it's a 3 ft tank, about 150 liters...

Also so glad i took the pleco out a while back, they would have attacked him badly if he was still in the tank...

for the fry ... if you have some good algae around ... very fast, or just make sure what ever you feed they can get the dust. Keep it simple dry food I find allows for a bit more over feeding than live. The potential risk with live parents get so excited they develop a taste for fry. (even seen that happen to guppies that never touched the fry till they got love food a few times. )
