    Hey guys,
Sorry if this is a dumb question but is there some sort of procedure to convert the tank to fresh water?? The tank is currently empty but was a marine tank before, any thoughts??

I was just thinking of giving the tank and filter a good wash, is that enough??

probably yes.. remember no soaps or detergents. plain water or with a little bit of vinegar mixed in or even a very mild bleach solution, but remember to rinse thouroughly, and DO NOT USE frangranced bleach if you do go that way..

remember to cycle the tank befor you add any fish, a quick search of this forum will give you plenty of GOOD information on cycling a tank befor adding any fish.

best luck dude.. keep us posted on progress

Yup, a good wash with no chemicals or detergents should be ok.

If the tank has an external sump ,you might want to look at it and change it ,most times we use a different config in marine tanks so that we can get DSB(deep sand base) ,skimmer and other goodies in , so the flow will be different than a freshwater sump.
also check if the overflow is skimming from the top only or if it takes water from the whole height of the tank .i could be wrong in saying you want both types for tropical applications .if the tank hasnt got a sump just a good clean as posted above.
