Hey guys, This might sound like a silly question, but do mollies tend to get constipated?

I have 2 silver, and 1 black female in one tank, and a black male in another tank, and I noticed that they all tend to trail a lo-o-o-ng thread of poop behind them.

    Is this normal for mollies?

Sorry guys, I feel a bit stupid asking such a question, but at least I didn't ask "do fish fart?" :blink1:

Ahaha then you should see how my Oscar craps...but sometime he does get constipated due to all the protein in his diet, so I give him some green peas and it fixes him right up. If they stop pooping then you need to start worrying.

My understanding is that any fish can get constipated - depending on the diet etc .. I do not have mollies but my other live breeders do well with some blanched baby marrow a few times a month. Could give it a try and see if they are less constipated if this is not part of the diet already.

Mollies need some veggies in their diet to stay 'regular'. Try getting some veggie flakes, peas etc. into thei diet at least once or twice a week for best results.

I have also had this problem before so I usually feed peas once a week (same as SA said)... but if I spot a problem I feed immediately, but usually though it doesnt happen if I feed them peas weekly...
