Tired of water running down the tank and messing your carpet or floor?
    Protects you lights and electrocution:eek:

    Glass cover
    1. Cut a glass sheet the size of the top of the tank
    2. Cut out a square in the front for feeding
    3. Cut 2 to 4 Approx 15mm glass squares
    4. Generously silicone (fish safe) the squares to sides of the glass
    5. Once dry slide over tank.
Plastic Cover (Tank with no lights)
    1. Same as above but use thick plastic.
    2. Use plastic shelving L brackets, cut out the reinforcing
    3. Reinforce the length with dull sticks
    4. Generously Silicone everything together

    The canopy fits over

    Tips
Ensure glass is cut exactly the same size of the top of the tank ( measure outer to outer sides), or else the canopy will not fit over if too big or the glass will fall inside the tank if too small.
Use 4 mm glass squares or L shaped plastic brackets. The lips should not be visible once the canopy is on.
Ensure the glass lips and glass are 90 degrees
Instead of having one full sheet of glass over the tank, you can even do a 80/20split with the glass
Glass is slippery when wet and it will build up slimy algae over time so be careful when removing the lid:mad:
I have done this many a times and works great for me hope it does for you.

Actually I didn't bother will glass at all.

Just bought some Perspex and sorted it out with that, cheaply.

I tried the perspex option but it warped in the middle and started sagging to such an extent that the middle section touch the water.... so i removed it and now went over to glass...

cheap was the point of this thread

for one 3 foot - perspex is fine
for two or more tanks which is most of us it works out expensive, unless money is not an option

Cool, will give this a try, maybe try perspex, and see how that goes.
