HI guys I am back from my Easter weekend,

spent a whole lot of time thinking fish, and my next / new tank...

But firstly I need to know if some has a spare tank laying around, I need to remove my mud Skipper!!!...

I have a 2ft tank at home as I have mentioned, I think... I want to start working things out before I start looking to setup, I dont want to just get the normal fish one can get in the shops and in the short time I have been here I have realized the guys here know what they are speaking about!

What would you guys recommend, here's, my likes...
Oddballs - Puffers, banjo cat fish etc.
Dwarf Cichlids, catfish, live-bearers... and a few more but what would you guys ad in you tanks.

Maybe I can get some ideas and start building my dream list.
So how many fish is a good rule to follow, I love drift wood and rocks, but love live plants and moss as well.

I know the 2ft tank is small but it is my first real tank I am doing on my own...

Puffers need to be in a tank of their own. They can get agro and do some serious damage.

A lot of he catfish get real big so make sure you do some research on what you want.

But the most important before choosing any fish is to know in what size tank you will keep them, because this puts a limit on your choices.

    Sorry missed the 2ft part

Banjo Cats are great little cats that only get to around 4"-5" (10cm-13cm) ususally, although there are one or two of the species that get bigger (upto around 8"-9" (20cm-23cm)).

The main problem with Banjos is that they hide away in the sand for most of their time, and only rise up to feed or move to another hiding place! SOmetimes they'll come out of an evening, but usually not til after lights out!!

So, they are great to have, but don't expect to see too much!!

    Cheers
    G!

Lizid – in a 2 foot tank I would go for a pair of Apistogramma (There are so many different type available that you will find it hard to decide on which ones you would like to get). They like heavily planted tanks with loads of hiding place. You could also add some Corydoras hastatus. Excellent little catfish that will get along great with the Apistos as they both require very similar water parameters. With them I would add a few apple snails to help control the algae.

Put a piece of lettice in the tank when you go to sleep. In the morning take the lettuce out with all the snails attached and repeat if neccesary.

You can buy snail traps from LPS. Put food into trap... leave over night... empty snails out next morning.
