platys and guppys will survive defnitly, ive got a friend thats even got angels in a unheated tank, maybe u should try and experiment....

barbel will defnitley make it.....but maybe not the other fish with it.

Koi is bred to be viewed from above and thus look pretty crappy from the side. with a TL of close to 1M a 1.2 will be WAY to small... i wont even put my biggest koi in my 2.5x80x90 tank....

i've read that Myxocyprinus asiaticus grows very large, do you think a 4ft will be sufficient?
also is it ethicaly correct to keep a koi in a fishtank?

i am yet to see one over 25cm... they grow EXTREMELY slowly - but yes they would have to go into a pond at a later stage. I believe they go black in adulthood

i had no idea that the hi-fin is a cold water fish, you only ever see it in heated tanks in the petshop.

Guess its a choice between the hi-fin and a common pleco, any thoughts on whether the pleco will thrive in coldwater?

Hi-fin-doll oach - not hifin pleco.....

a pleco will be fine in cold water if you add it in summer and let it adjust to the cooler winter

    common pleco that is

illegal to transport of keep alive after you catch it. current sportfishing regulations set by DEAT states that you need to kill them if you catch them. same with the sunfish

also illegal Zaf. the native species may not be kept/transported without a permit and the invasive species must be killed if you catch them

are you saying that the tilapia is a coldwater fish? if so, i believe i've seen this fish breed in tropical conditions??? (reference to herotilapia multispinosa(blacklisted?!), or is this a different fish altogether?)
