CO2 systems

Whats your guys and gals general opinions on a CO2 systems? Just keen to know because I've heard alot of good and reports about them. I've grown plants successfully without one,but then with good lighting.

 

I think you'll find as big a difference of opinion on CO2 as u would if u had asked 'is there a God'? Some will say 'yes most definately! Can't live without it' others will say 'absolutely not'. I personally use a cheap Tetra version on my main tank, but do not on my breeder tanks! There are ways of growing most plants without the use of CO2 (look at the profs 'palm fibre peat' thread) but there will be certain plants that will require specialist attention! I am drifting further away from the CO2 idea as it has too big an affect on pH in areas of low gH and kH as is the case with Cape Town and surrounding areas! On top of that, u have the issue of cost! Some of these systems are LANK expensive! Hope that helps? Cheers! Big G!

I agree with big G! The thing is your plants WILL grow better there is no debate, but is the effort nessasary? If you have good plant growth and you happy with it than why reinventing the wheel. If you wonna try specialist plants or even better growth try it.
Bio co2 is cheap and simple and if that does the trick you still can go for the commercial products.
Ask the plant gurus on the site, there are quite a few!

A good CO2 system will cost that on it's own!! You'd be stupid not to take the offer.
