hey guys iv been running my one 5kg co2 tank for 8 months now at 4-6 bps...
and just got another 5kg and its been running for 1 1/2months at 1-2bps...

but they both reading 55bar?? i use the same regulator for both cylinders (SAGA) and have they work fine.

    i then weighed them
the 8month old came in at 17.4kg and the 1 1/2month old was 17.7kg

so i just cant believe that 8months only uses 0.4kg

    any input will be appreciated..

The reading on the regulator will stay high for a very long time. When it starts dropping, you will know its time to refll within 2 weeks. So yes, they will bothe stay at a high pressure for a long time.

If the one is emptying faster that the other, tbere could be a leak on the system

Do you have a solenoid on yours? I am still using the same JBL m500 i.e. 500g also 1-2 bps since the beginning of the year ... and it has not dropped in pressure a single bit. I think the fact that the CO2 is only being pumped 8 hours a days really helps.

Do you guys think solenoids can be repaired ?

I've got a "Sage" regulator + solenoid and the solenoid does not allways switch off.

    Sounds a bit suspect ?

Maybe I should return it to the supplier...

    @gdt78

    Contact @Altum.
Pack your kit into a box.
Pay for postage to CT, + return postage
    Post to Altum

He will be able to organize a replacement for you and send it back (Hence you pay for the return bag!)

I replaced mine a few months ago and it wasn't too badly priced. If I recall it was around R300 for a solid brass unit. (Total overkill, but you know it will not give you any more problems!)

Or contact the importer directly. Aquarium Depot imports the SAGA units.

Solenoids aren't reliably repaired, they can be REPLACED.
    It does sound suspect.

ALWAYS return to the retailer you bought it from.
    Work from there.
Technically speaking, you are then covered, IF and WHEN you do send it to the agent or wholesaler who supplied your local dealer.

IF you cannot do so during warranty period, or purchased second hand( most warranties, guarantees are not transferable)

THEN....I have an engineer who I have stocked with crucial parts.
Our Workshop specialises in solenoid, needle valve, regulator and gauge replacements and repairs to MOST brands.

OK, Here is an update on my Co2 SAGA regulator & solenoid.

So today I came home and saw the power in the house has tripped.

After some investigation I saw my SAGA solenoid has BLOWN. ( The outer chassis blew off )

Guess the supplier wont be able to repair it anymore as they said when I told them earlier the month the unit does not switch off anymore.

I wonder if they will be prepared to replace the unit. I'll wait till the new year.

Anyone else had similar experiences with SAGA solenoids that blow up ?
