I recently bought 5 clown loachs and really wanna look after these guys to the best of my ability, I was wondering seeing as they are scaleless fish if there is any additive you guys and girls would recommend to help with there skin coating? Any tips on keeping them healthy as well would be great. I am currently searching the forum and the internet but any help would be great!

@Lowflyer, I did my research before buying thanks. Am simply asking for some first hand advice from people who have kept them!

I've never found that I had to do anything special to keep mine looking awesome and healthy, but I do have a few tips
    1. They appreciate meaty foods like bloodworm, but also love vegetable matter
    2. With a lot of medication that you might use in the aquarium, because clowns are scaleless, you should reduce the dose to half
    3. Clowns don't tolerate salt (though I have heard of people treating ich with salt, and their clowns were okay)

Charlie if I can remember offhand now the website is loaches online, these guys are loach nuts, they even have recipes for home made food for these guys.

They have pages on loach diseases and and, only place that I could find accurate info on my Zebra and Serwilia loaches.

I just love the antics of loaches, my YOYO loaches chased each other up and down sort of a tag team, so funny and gave me a scare every now and then when they slept on their sides, loolked like they were dead but they chowed and punched holes in my Swords and nipped my betta male so they went back.

I now have Zebra loaches and they are much more peacefull and also fun to watch. The Seriwellia are so different, if I add food they rush to the coner to see if they are getting any algae wafers.

When I have the space I would love to setup a loach only tank.

    They get huge.
So you will need quite a big tank.

    Soft sand or non-abbrasive gravel.
A few places for them to hide.

    And a good diet.

@Reedfish - yes, they can make 30-60cm, but they are very slow growers, apparently averaging an inch a year - so you can get away with a smaller tank for quite a long time before you will have to upgrade. Obviously if you can afford to start out with a bigger tank, so much the better and you can have more clowns :D

Fish can grow quicker than expected!
Especially if they are well fed and are kept in good water conditions!

This is true but clowns are notorious slow growers, so I think a clown that grows fast probably hits that 1inch per year XD Though I have head that they grow faster until they hit the 13/14cm mark.

The clowns I had grew rather quickly in the beginning, there growth started slowing down at about 8cm or so.

@CharlieB I just read my previous posts on here. Hope I didn't come across as arrogant. Was not my intention...
