Holy moley!! That is incredible! It's going to be hellishly expensive though. Just goes to show what technology can do.

I have to be honest here but I think filters, heaters, (perhaps not tubes) make up the beauty of a tank. :alberteinstein:

@CDK I must admit, that is a first for me : () Filters, tubes, heaters and any other equipment are rather big eye sores.

Nah, spending money on good aquarium products requires them to be seen.

I used both our nook stools for my canister filters on both tanks and have to admit they look much prettier with canister filters on than anyone else who sat on them before.

I mean, if you have a thermometer in your tank which you obviously cant hide (unless you use the electronic ones) then you might as well have 1 or 2 heaters and perhaps an internal filter as part of the display.

Anyway, I wont hide my accessories, think they look cool. :pepsi:

The problem with this, although it's really cool, is the heat generated. I haven't watched the video because internet data cap yaaay, but I have read multiple discussions about military applications and other sites just discussing possible uses/expansions on the idea. As far as I'm aware, it's generating a heck of a lot of heat - and we all know that heat affects fish and plants; in addition, if one cleverly wanted to use this heat generated as an alternative to a thermostat, I'm not too sure it would be controllable or anywhere near viable.

While this was covered in a blog about fishkeeping, I believe it's just an idea that would easily come to mind when you see this device uses water and the type of demonstration of the technology. Furthermore, the cloaking effect is highly dependent on the angle of viewing.

I agree, I dont think we will ever see it coming to our tanks. It is the concept that is exciting? There are more practicle ways of hiding equipment. Like adding a sump for example.

Agreed! But yes it's a great innovation. Cloaked underwater facilities anyone?

Looks like an interesting way of concealing fish tank equipment. Only thing is it would probably cost a fortune.

I use a strategically placed plant of piece of wood.

Gee, what will they think of next...?

Frankly like most of the new cars with all their fancy gadgets and such, it's just 1 more thing to go wrong in your tank. What about the possibility of frying all your fish and plants?

My biggest concern is that I will freak out if my fish swim behind the device. How do I know if they are gone or hiding or cloaked???? eish!!!

Anyone considered the possibilities of using this to ensure marital bliss? Just think, no more ranting about all the money you're spending on fishtank kit:

"But honestly dear - LOOK - I haven't bought anything new!"

Go have a look at some of the ADA glass stuff and tell me that ain't sexy. You definitely would not want to hide that stuff behind a cloaking device.

    Lol

You might be on to something! If we could hide a whole fish room, that would be money well spent!

Ill allow ADA glass equipment in my tank any day! Those diffusers look awesome.

There overflor pipes and spraybars for their canisters are simply put, beautiful too! If I could even afford just their canister alone I would put that in a seperate tank next to my tank and show off the filter as well. WOW. Such amazing stuff!

@Sean J Is any of this stuff going to be available from you in the future?
