We had a power failure yesterday for about 40 min. Do I have to clean all my canister filters or will it still be safe just to start them up again? If I have to clean them, what can I use to jump start the bacteria in the filters?

    Kind Regards

If you had a power break for only 40 minutes, you have absolutely no problem, just do not do anything, I hope that you have allowed the filters to run immediately. If such a filter was switched off for longer than 6 hours, I would worry, but in such a case, I would also not clean the filter, but just hope that all the bacteria have not died and that they will pick up again after switching the filter on again.

    Kind regards,

    Dirk

Thank you for the quick response and for the fantastic news. All the filters is up and running. I am busy with a sump to replace the filters in future as I hate all the pipe and stuff.

    Regards

    Anton
