I always wash my hands before I go into my tank. What did you do before you started to clean the tank?

Im glad all is looking good

I must admit I am always scared of rocks or too many rocks
every time i have done fancy rockwork, I always land up taking it out because so much gathers under the rocks

don't know how some people do it in tanks full of rockwork.. maybe there is some secret..

I washed my hands before cleaning the tank. So it seems like it may have been the water, or the ammonia from the rocks but highly likely it was the carbon that was stored in the cupboard that contained detergents as well. Thanks for all the help guys, there are a few survivors fortunately.

Also just a heads up for the aquarium owners in Cape Town; a reputable and big pet shop in Cape Town (I wont mention the name as it may be bad publicity) lost a considerable amount of fish, and the cause was the tap water. So please prepare your tap water before introducing it into your aquariums.

    Boil the tap water.
