    Hi all, I would like to know if there are any other cichlids other thab bolivian rams, kribs, angels and gbr that can be kept in a community tank?

    I currently have zebra danios, widow tetras, clown loaches, cories, rainbow boesman, gbr, bolivian ram.

    What cichlids can be added with my fish?

    If need be i can take out the danios and widow tetras.

    I really like the bandit cichlid and there is another type, i will get them name tomorrow and post it.

    My tank is plantes btw.

    Thanks.

    Cleithacara Maronii (keyholes) are friendly, nice and can be kept in a group. Even more males won't be a problem. Or Laetacara Dorigera.

    Some of the smaller Acara relatives may work.
    And as has been said above, Keyholes are relatively chilled as far as Cichlids go.

    There is a very good book on miniature/smaller cichlids.
    If someone will remind me, I will post the details this evening when I can check the details at home. :idea:

    You can try eartheaters but they need a sand substrate,they don't do too well with aggressive fish and get fairly large.

    @Reedfish I will remind you. Thanks

    @DCWarHound I thought eartheaters are agro fish. I have nothing that is aggressive in my tank at this stage so maybe I can give that a go. I have very fine gravel in my tank. Are they plant safe?

    It depends what kind you get.

    I'm gonna get 3x Geo Surinamensis when my tank is up,as far as i read they will usually just mind their own business sifting through the sand and will usually just chase others away that are too close (not chase them all around the tank like most other cichlids).Their colours start coming out when they get bigger.

    You should check out some videos on youtube,they are usually kept with cories and less aggressive cichlids.

    You can prob fit 2 in your tank as long as they have enough open space and sand to sift through.

    Edit:They will uproot plants if they can dig under them.

    @hazelbag,

    Threadfins get quite big.
    I had some. Very nice.

    But not sure how they would go with your other fish.

    How big are the Danios?

    I would just think that Threadfins might get too big for your other fish.
    For me, the smaller Acaras are a better option.

    I know green terrors are very agro but if i have a spare setup what fish can i put with him?

    @hazelbag,

    No idea where you can get some of the more unusual mini Acaras.
    Hopefully one of the local members will be able to help you.
    Have you tried one of the sponsors?

    Green Terrors get fairly large and agro as you say.
    Unless you have quite a big tank, I imagine they will be better on their own.
    If your tank is big enough, then other large boistrous CA cichlids might be an oprion, but you will have to watch them closely.

    @Reedfish

    I havent asked around yet, i first needed advice from you guys. I will ask around and see if i come right.

    I want to setup another 250-300l tank for a pair of green terrors, will that be big enough for them? What fish can one put with a pair of green terrors?

    I would imagine 1 GT in a 250L tank is about max.
    If they have a fight, or if the male is hassling the female, not much room for a 30cm fish to escape to.
    And tbh I wouldn't have another cichlid with them. Maybe a robust catfish, but that's it.
