Choclate gourami behavior

I have bought 2 choclate gouramis in a lps.
One died of stress but the other one is going on really well.
But now it only stays in a corner and only came up for a gulp of air.



He is in a 60 cm tank with
8 rummy nose tetras
1 x-ray tetra
3 black widow tetras
1 bristle nose cathfish.

The other fish looks fine.
They are very active.

The temp is 29 celsius.

Should I be worried?

The Chocolate Gourami need pristine water conditions and a higher temp,and prefer soft acidic water in a well planted aquarium,and a species only tank is preferable.
They also need gentle filtration and is susceptible to diseases.
The behaviour that you describe is normally an indication of stress due to incorrect water conditions, illness or incorrect tankmates.
They also prefer temps in the region of 25 to 27 C.

Would you recomend a waterfall filter rather than one that's submersable and

Personally I do not like the submersable filters.

 

The gourami looks much better.
I did do a good water change.
And I don`t disturb the tank.

 

Sadly the gourami died last night:frown:
