    Hello TASA

I'm new to the forum, only found it yesterday. I used to browse around G4Y a lot, but the traffic seems to be down a bit there, so was wondering where everyone has gone.

I've been keeping fish for about 6 years now, but on a rather low key. I do a LOT of cycling, and all my time and money goes into that...

I have two tanks running at the moment:
    1. My original tank is a 60 l hex. Setup in the living room at home. I have 8 black widows and an angel in it. Plants wise I have a rear curtain of Hygrophilia Polysperma across the back of the tank. The foreground is covered in Brazilian Micro Sword and in the middle of the tank I have a beautiful Echinodorus cordifolius growing out the top of the tank (it puts out flowers and new leaves every few weeks). I have a river sand and small pebble substrate. It has an internal power filter, and a 18w CFL (Lumaglo from Checkers) 10 hours per day. I'm not sure of water parameters.

    2. I have a 2fter sitting on my desk at the office. Currently there's a whole bunch of swordtails in it, I never bother counting, because they are always multiplying. I started with two, and the population has just grown. Plants wise, I have one anubias nana and a heck of a lot of java moss. I have a lot of algea in this tank, but I also don't give it the attention it deserves, so I can understand that! The substrate is basically river sand with a sprinkling of pebbles for visual effect, I think it looks very natural. The background is cork siliconed to the glass, but I don't really think this looks nice anymore (although the java moss grows well on it). I also have a 18w CFL on this tank and I'm running an air driven sponge filter.

If I get the time (and the money) I'd like to build a massive river tank!

Well, that's me in a nut shell.

    Later,
    Sheldon

Welcome to TASA Sheldon. Yep I suspect G4Y is where most of us "started" with online forums etc. You may find quite a few of the old regulars on G4Y around here...

    Thanks for the welcome everyone!

I hope I'll be able to give some good advice in my areas of knowledge! BUT be warned, I also like asking lots of questions!

Zafgak, I'm actually going to be moving at the end of the month. As part of the move, I'm probably going to do a whole rebuild of my home tank and I'll keep some micro sword out for you. The Echinodorus cordifolius has to come out (I'm planning on moving it to a water container garden). My tank needs a lid, I loose too much water through evaporation with an open top! However, I still need something tall in the tank, so maybe a swop for the giant vallis would do the trick!

My office tank also reqularly produces excess java moss, and that's always up for grabs, but I'll post in the appropriate place when I have some (after the move).
