just saw this fish on youtube and i want one.

 

As I understand it, all snakeheads are Blacklisted species, with good reason as they are incredibly invasive and destructive, but I do not see them on the blacklist?

I'll look further into this, but am sure they are??

Anyhow, either way, the are pretty cool looking fish!

ja i didnt see them there so they must be legal

 

I'm just guessing here, but maybe these are one of the ones that will never appear on the importers 'Whitelist', or maybe they are down on the proposed 'Blacklist'?

I remember something about snakeheads ALL being illegal, but can't find that reference now!

Maybe Henk could shed some light on this one?

its on the black list, not under Channa but rather under Ophicephalus Spp

 

all snakeheads are banned almost everywhere in the world. watch the NatGeo thing on them to know why.

 

As dolphin has mentioned.... snakeheads fall under the SUB family of Ophicephalus SPP (SPP refers to all species of that sub family) and therefore these fish are blacklisted.
