Hey guys picking up a group Gymnogeophagus Balzani today. As we now know they need a sub-tropical tank and finding South American tank mates that we can actually buy in ZA isnt easy. Other than Corys what catfish can I keep at this temp. This is a 90cm/3ft tank so no tank busters here. Thanks!

22*C - 24*c is more or less standard tropical temps
Most cats should be ok with that.

See if you can get Pictus cats
Or flagtails or Hoplo also nice

Thanks , I feel bad putting pictus in a 90cm , they should be going in a 120cm at least. Hoplos are awesome thanks , sadly we dont get them here often. Recently a lot of LFS got albino hoplos but im not paying that price for those , love flagtails but well probably never see them on a list let alone a shop

Flagtail are seasonal so they do come in from time to time. I've had one and almost bought another last year.

Hera Jardoni will do well in a 90 cm at those temps. Never kept Geos - not sure if they would try to eat the Jardonis

Or even one of the smaller "fancy Plecs".
Though some of those also like it on the warmer side

Thanks for all your suggestions ! The tank unfortunately exploded over a week ago :( ! Rock fell on the base causing a crack. Lost all 3 of my gymnogeophagus balzinis in the process. my worse loss , touch wood to have only beenmy worst loss in the hobby in 3/4 years.

Sorry for your loss. Use it as an excuse to get a bigger tank
