catfish in malawi tank???

HI I would like to know if sun catfish and Raphael catfish would be fine in a Malawi tank or would the harder water bother them?

 

I have a (striped) Raphael catfish in my tank and he is doing fine the only thing with him he likes to hide in the day and then he goes into the caves where he doesn't belong

 

Nope.

Both are much better suited to setups where the water is soft and acidic, as opposed to the hard, alkaline waters of Lake Malawi.

Also, you'd never see those catfish in a Malawi tank anyway - the amount of rockwork you'd use combined with their natural nocturnal habits would leave you wondering if they're stil in the tank lol. On the other hand, Raphael cats do eventually come out during the day.

Finally, a fully grown Sun Cat will quite easily swallow smaller cichlids... best left to house with larger tankmates.
