    Hi All

I have had my Cascade 700 and 1000 for about 1year now. I have constant issues with gunk builtup in the intake and outlet piping. If I blow on the pipes when I clean the filters, the gunk clouds my tank. The only way to clean then properly is to constantly remove the piping and rinse with tap water at high pressure to clean the pipes.

Any advise....I know my tank is abit overstocked. That is bing fixed the weekend.

    Regards,

The source of the problem is usually an overstocked tank.
Adding a second filter usually works great for me.
    or
Increase the wc and clean up frequency
    or
Improve on the filters trapping of the smaller particles so they don't get stuck in the pipes

Ok my canisters are from bottom basket to top: Cascade 1000 - Sponge, Filter wool, seachem matrix, ceramics. cascade700 - Sponge, filter wool, seachem matrix.

Should I not first run through filter wool instead of sponge?

Another trick is not to turn the filters off during waterchange.

I get this build up on my Dolphin C1300 as well. I also find I have still got a lot of floating particles/debris in my water column. Anybody else got this with their Dolphin?

I hear you, but then when I clean my filters the same happens...I will take a photo next time, but I think overstocking is a contributor.

When you clean the filters you should clean the pipes too. You get a special pipe cleaner from most good LPS stores.
