    Good evening everyone.

Pulled the trigger and acquired a 1.2 meter tank (336 liters).

I'm now looking for the best canister filter.

Doing my research two names stand out, Eheim and Fluval.

The Fluval FX series look quite capable and sport a few funky features, the Eheim Classic filters seems to be the "old school" option, but judging by the reviews solid!

If I go Fluval would a FX6 be to strong, rather FX4?

And for Eheim, the Eheim Classic 600 (2217)?

I understand there are other options like the Dolphin filters, but for now the Fluval and Eheim is what I'm looking at...

    Any suggestions would be appreciated

The FX6 is a great filter with a very high price too.. what fish will you be keeping? Fx4 is plenty for that tank with a standard community fish stocking

Thank you for the reply Shabir.

Will be going with a heavily planted setup, lots of shrimp and maybe a school or two small little fish, love the Galaxy Danio, read they are shrimp friendly. Then a couple of small corydoras (panda corydoras), a bristle nose or two... Thats about it I think...

The fx4 will be enough for that set up. I use Sun Sun cannisters and they've served me pretty well this far. A friend of mine uses the fx4 on a 1.5m planted set up and it's doing really well

Oase canisters are great for planted tanks. The removable pre-filter chamber makes maintenance a breeze without having to open the entire filter.
