    Hello All,

    Would like some suggestions, advise.

I have a fluval cannister filter with 3 media baskets.

I would like to know what media are you using in your cannister filter and any advice would also be welcome.

    Thanks,

I use Boyu ceramic noodles in all of my trays. With the media they give you.

@Firefly so you mix Boyu ceramic noodles into each tray with other media?

If you dont mind me asking, what media did your canister come with in each try (I bought mine with a second hand tank & i am sure it is changed)

    Thanks,

It just came with some carbon which I used and threw away, and some coarser ceramic noodles.

first basket use sponge and filter wool
second basket use biomedia. Ceramic rings are good, seachem matrix bettern siporax also good.
Last basket i would half fill with biomedia too... Leaving space for a bag of charcoalbfor when and if needed.

@Zoom, in terms of maintenance, do you just wash your filter media as you need to or do you replace any of them at any fixed interval?

Rinse media about once every two months, reppace charcoal and floss at every filter was. Oh, and only use aquarium water to rinse the media!

Don't replace often, only if they get broken or damaged.
@Zoom, did you get my PM?

in 3 years i have never changed my ceramic rings. I threw half of them away when i chamgex them to matrix, but otherwise i would still be using them.

@Zoom, what type of sponge do you use in your first basket? Sponge from any shop or special aquarium sponge?
