I noticed this morning before cleaning my cascade 1000 that the flow is less than normal. I cleaned it, and still. What could be the cause for this? Maybe the rubber o ring that goes ove the inlet pipe that takes the water to the bottom of the filter?

Test the flow rate. Fill a bucket with water (you will have to know what the volume of the bucket is) and put the suction (inlet hose) in the bucket. Make sure the filter is primed properly. Switch the filter on and time how long it takes to pump the water out of the bucket. Convert the result to liters per hour and compare that to the rating of the pump. That will give you a good indication if the flow rate has actually decreased. If it has and there are no blockages in the system, the motor of the pump might be packing up.

@Cropheus what you do is when you open the top again take out the impeller you will see that stickey stuff that is in the bottom of you filter is stuck between the magnet and the rotor housing clean that off and take out the goo were the magnet goes in, you will see a difference.

Inspect the impellor if you can, might be clogged up or something wrapped around the shaft

thanks guys I will check, the filter is only 1 month old, so I do not suspect the motor to be packing up.

Sorry to be bearer of bad news but compared to Ehiem and Fluval they are. The build qaulity and the quality of parts used is inferrior.

    Nothing wrong with cascade.

Saying a cascade is inferior to a eheim is like saying a toyota is inferior to a volvo. They both are means of transportation are they not? One offers a more luxurious ride, but on a practical level, they both offer the same practicality.

I have heard of so many horror stories of them leaking water, sucking air, parts not being available etc etc etc.

Cleaning the pipes can also restore some flow.
