I want one that isn’t like $50 but also works for longer than 1 month. My expectations are very low

if its for planted tank, get a decent size pipe and cable tie a turkey baster to ant and the blast it while draining water

    Hi @kdfitz25

    Welcome to the forum
As @A new day mentioned, introduce yourself in the new members section and tell us a bit about your setup

What setup have you got to do gravel vac on
We use a 2 liter coke bottle inserted into a piece of hose pipe
Cut a third off from the bottom of the bottle and insert the top into the hose pipe this way its cheap and doesn't pick up your gravel
If you have a heavily planted tank then this wont work but an air pipe slightly thicker than the one usually used for airstones should do the job

    There you go

Bit dark outside now, let me know if its not so clear and i will take another one in the morning

The gravel lifts up the bottle a little and the siphon sucks the dirt but the gravel doesnt go all the way up
You just get the knack of it once you have done it two or three times
Cesar uses a little bottle on his planted tank but obviously keeps it away from the substrate

Genius! Won’t work on intricate / small planted tanks obviously, but genius!
I just syphon with airline tubing of about 1cm thick on most of my tanks

20M just over R200. It's the one you can roll back into the plastic reel. Does the job
