Our Fish of the year.... Tank of the year ... and Pet of the year competition voting polls will commence tomorrow and will feature all the monthly winners from September 2014 to August 2015 in all the relevant sections..... As this will be the cream of the crops for the past year competing for the title.... it will be motivational to the members to participate in our monthly competitions if at least a prize is awarded to the winners of each category for this prestige title....

Anyone prepared to sponsor a prize must undertake to contact the winners for shipping details and also include the shipping expenses of the prize to the respective winners. Any prizes sponsored will be appreciated... Please inbox me and specify what you are willing to sponsor and in which category....If more prizes are received in specific sections.... we will consider having a second and third prize as well...

    Thank you in advance....

@Cheetah.. Its a pleasure and I hope it encourages some more donations of prizes for the other categories!

@Broder, I hope this encourages more entires in this category in the future..

In my humble opinion, I also hope that the Mods think of restructuring this competition a little... maybe into 2 categories so that all the fish lovers on this forum have a fair chance and thus encourage everyone to enter
I think that every member of this forum is a fish lover.. however... each one has a passion for diferent fish which doesnt always allow them to have magnificent planted tanks.... As a result, they feel that will never be able to enter the competiton versus the magnificent planted tanks that are usually entered so... they dont bother to enter
Maybe a second category that allows for low tech tanks, the new members that are trying to achieve something and those that try and have a nice tank in relation to the fish they keep, would encourage more entries...

As I said... its just my opinion... maybe I am wrong..

Love this idea, a biotope section or low tech as you say... thing is, you can achieve fantastic results with a low tech.

@Linxie.. I agree... I just feel we need to find a way to encourage all those whose fish wont permit beautiful planted tanks ( this would also show everyone's different ideas to make a tank look nice without many plants) as well give a chance to the new members trying to achieve something nice

I also think your idea of eft into the winner's account is a better idea than mine as shipping will be saved so I am going to follow you on that

Come on everyone.... we need at least 1 more sponsor... PLease.....

You girls are too generous for words. Thanks @Linxie. It will suck if you win the sections that you've sponsored the prize towards.

Great initiatives from Maria and Linxie, thank you!!!

However, we members collectively must spend probably hundreds of thousands of Rand with our sponsors, and indirectly with their suppliers such as Marltons, Akwa, Daro, Pet Habitat, Aquarium Depot, and the rest, surely we can get something from the corporates who may well love the opportunity to give something back and get some publicity in the process?

I agree 100% but someone needs to approach the corporates and ask for sponsorships or prizes as they may not even be aware that the competition is taking place.
Usually in organizations/clubs, looking for prizes for a show or competition, the "Committee" approaches the suppliers/manufactures and asks for prizes for the event and usually offer some kind of advertising agreement as decided upon by the Committee...

I agree wholeheartedly with Maria. The sponsors should all be contacted directly. They surely just haven't seen this thread yet.

I would also like to know why sponsors have not been approached prior to launching this?
