Filtration will be built-in sump with Matrix, Purigen, foam. Something like this:

Will have internal filter on the other side of the tank as well.

I will have the internal filter (Dolphin F2000), but the side filter will be the main one yes.

Keeping Uaru, Severum, Lemon tetra (if I don't keep Polys) and Festivum.

If filtration is still lacking then I will look at adding a canister.

How many fish? Pls remember that any fish tank can only have a certain number of fish in it, bio load, basically the more bio material you have in the tank the better ur water quality will be and ur fish will be healthy ur fish will be, Cichlids r very dirty fish and having to many of them will create a huge demand on the bio-load of tank.

About 8 Uaru, 1 Severum, 1 Festivum, +-25 Lemon tetras.

I got the Uaru, Severum and Festivum in my 1.2m at the moment with the internal Dolphin filter and built-in-hood filter (Bio balls, ceramic rings, Matrix and foam). Doing 20% weekly WC's. No problems so far.

I'm 99% sure the filtration on the 1.8m will be sufficient.

I also got 2 senegalis bichirs and they are really a treat in ones tank. They are really cute and I only need to tap on the water a few times and then they come up to eat (insects, chicken heart, earthworm) out of my hand. Then they also go for the pellets when I feed the other fish.

    Hi Polylover
Just noticed your post and I also have a poly but unlike all the other clever people I do not know which one it is, but I suspect it is the common variety. Would love to get another that is sligthly different. He is a 1.2m tank with a oscar, synodontis, parrot, climbing percha and african knife... I am sure another poly would adapt to this tank quite well... hopefully

How did I miss this thread?! I was at one stage a massive Poly fan! :) Until I had to sell my tanks of course, but I had 2 species at one stage along with some Reedfish in a separate tank. Some of my favourite fish to take photos of too, being such interesting subjects and everything :)
