    As soon as I put some shells into their tank, the caeruleus juvies made a bee-line for them!

    @lep2soma

    They are certainly very entertaining fish to keep.

    @Reedfish:
    I love Malawis, but sadly I don't have space for them. I'm 'upgrading' to Tanganyikans!

    @lep2soma,

    I had Malawis for 2 years. Got tired of the constant aggression and eventually packed them in for general tropicals.
    With hindsight I should have rather gone the Tang route.

    @lep2soma,

    I had general tropicals and oddballs for a while.
    Then upgraded to my bigger tank, and that was SA/CA cichlids and some odd balls.
    Now going the Discus route.
    Don't know why I keep changing. Guess I haven't found a group of fish I am happy with. :idea:

    @Reedfish:
    I've been keeping fish for such a looooong time, and in a freshwater setup, nothing beats cichlids.
    I always have them, sometimes even down to one.

    Daughter: "Dad, what's that cichlid doing in the XXX tank?
    Me: "It's the obligatory cichlid in the house!"

    Go for the discus, very rewarding.

    @Jenn:
    I'm glad you like it!
    Don't think I'll win, this forum has some really good fish-photographers...
