    Hi all,

I’m going to look at a boyu tank and cabinet set tomorrow.
These from what I understand are chipboard cabinets, with a plastic layer of some kind.
I assume in the corners etc there is the opportunity to get to the wood however, and chipboard really really does not like water.

Does anyone know of a way to effectively waterproof these types of cabinets so accidental water spillage etc will not cause it to swell over time?

My cabinet maker friend waterproofed mine with some stuff he gets from hardware store. It's a milky liquid that you just brush on. Will get the name .

You could use fiberglass resin, it comes with a hardener, pretty tricky to work with as it dries quickly, that is what they use to seal the plywood aquariums... but if you can coat all the surfaces it will do the job.

Another option is using something like resin, but its a pain to put on, and you will need to take cabinet apart or turn on every side to put resin on.

Another option is something like a polymer paint that they seal floors with, but I have never tried that on wood

    Thanks guys...
I think resin may mean I get myself stuck to the aquarium permanently given the outcome of my last project that used it
    Gripseal will check out

Or even easier and way cheaper option is to wrap clear plastic bought at mambos and nail it into the bottom of the wood you want to protect

If you only wanting to seal the corners or edges then normal duct tape will also work.
