    Good day fishy folk,
Has anybody ordered livestock from e-bay, is it worth the try, or is the risk too high? Also, I am in Polokwane....would like to get cleithracara maronii, keyhole cichlids, but seems only e-bay advertise them

Personally I wouldn't as especially if it is a import the potential of coming short is huge

Bad idea. Have ordered other items from Ebay (not livestock) and things have always been over a month delayed. SAPO take their time.

I have bought fish multiple times by mail order. Including Discus
In all these orders may have had 2 d o a (not the Discus!)

It all depends on the packers experience and shipping time.
If seller can do next day guaranteed courier and they have experience, then I would say go for. If not, then I would probably avoid.

We talking in SA or abroad? In SA I wouldn’t touch it with a stick

I've done here too.. infact most of my fish in my planted tank came from online orders and were mostly good. In SA I would not chance it though. Especially now in covid times @Lord Vader and I tried in July and it was a bust with plants

Edit: that was just Durban to Cape Town

Guess in the good old RSA the risk would not be worth the effort and money

I know someone who has got killifish in, took 40 days. They survived. You would need express air delivery to make it timely, and import permits regardless.
