Had mine since end of March, its about 6cm now. Nice fish but they do like to school. For some reason they are very expensive here (R120+)

@oscar freak, My LFS gets them in regularly but he says that they seem to die for no reason at all. They seem to be in the same size range as the BN, 12cm odd. As for keeping them in a shoal, I'm not so sure of that as I have stood and watched them at the lfs and they seem to be a bit territorial. I would love to own 1 but I'm not too sure how it'll be with my BN...?

I had one for quite a while. Great little guy and was only mildly territorial with other similar sized bottom dwellers, but would more often back off than fight. They live in fast flowing streams in rockey rivers so need lots of oxygen. Mine's favourites spot used to be in the bubble stream from an airstone I placed against a tall rock planted vetically in my substrate. He was quite happy alone and is nice as a small pleco as they don't grow very large or very big. He eventually died after I did some rearranging in my tank and forgot to put the airstone back. I've never seen any since in any of my local LFS haunts in CPT.

    I had one.
They are great for eating algae. But mine also did a lot of damage to my plants.

Hi Freshwater, check your pet shops as my one supplier, from Cape Town, has them! He has striped and spotted!
