    Good Day All,

I have been doing a lot of research on the internet while planning my new fish room.

Fish Tank Stand. I see mostly people go after square tubing or steel that has been galvanized.

For my current setup i'm thinking of going the cinder block and wooden shelf route. (As its not a display fish room, i don't mind the cinder block look)

Just wanted to inquire any anyone has built anything similar?

Cinder Blocks will be easy to get, but i'm not so sure around the wood?

    Thanking everyone in advance!

    Cheers!

Ps Example I found on the internet that i like!

Thanks for the reply Baryn Snr.

Did you added paint over the marine ply or purchase some for of rubber rising and covered it?

    Cheers,

@Fishlips, what type of wood are you using? Thickness of the wood? Are you sealing the wood with anything?

Hi, yes wood is sealed on the edges. Wood is about 3 cm thick, but my tank sits on the blocks, not really on the wood, meening the sides of my tanks.

Wood only supports weight of my smaller tanks

    Hi WindPomp,

I bought my shelf from a shelving company. Its about 2m high, each shelf is 1.2m wide and 0.45m deep and I got 3x shelves. Each shelf can carry 400kg. Paid R1,700 for it excluding delivery. Its steel and pallet wood. If you look around you might get second hand shelves. Def not the cheapest option but perhaps more peace of mind....

Thanks Little Nicky. I have been looking around but most places are crazy with prices. But will keep an eye out maybe on gumtree for good deal :)
