    Hi All,

I have been noticing lately that I have quite alot of bubbles on my agter surface.

    I do have a Juwel 125.

I did a water test and my Ammonia levels are fine.

I have recently started to dose Scape Complete and Scape Liquid Carbon.

And inserted some root tabs all over my gravel bed.

Is the bubbles an indication of something, or is this normal.

Have you tested nitrate and nitrites as well?

    Pics would help too.
Which root tabs did you use?
    How old is the tank?

Okay so I did my NO2 test now and it's 0,2 ppm and my NO3 is 20

Root tabs that I used was from epic aqauticd

And to add, I did a total revamp of my tank, but kept 50% of the water.

Those levels shouldn’t be an issue.

Epic aquatics root tabs I believe are just osmocote in a capsule.

What do you mean By complete revamp?

How long was the filters off for and did they dry out when you redid the tank?

The fact that you have nitrites means that your cycle crashed. I would suggest daily or alternate days water changes, until your nitrites go back to zero.

Also looking at pic one and 2 it does not look like you have alot of surface agitation which could help with the bubbles which could be staying there due to lack of disturbance.

I would start with a water change of at least 25% with 50% being ideal, and then add maybe a spray bar or even an airstone which could help break up the water surface.

By the way the Scape looks amazing

Only saw the photos now I was so confused when you said pics lol.

I was thinking it could have been some proteins that have been stirred up. From the redo.

    Hahahaha

Yeah The proteins stirred up is a possibility too but I'm most certain the surface agitation would solve this and at the same time oxygenate the water.

I'm no expert here but I do see a power head with air being sucked in. The bubbles look to be bigger than I have seen when there are issues with nitrates\nitrites. Like I say. I'm no expert but I think it's the proteins.
Let us know how it goes.

    Hiya,
My tank did the same thing when i added root tabs for the first time recently and i was advised i added to many so is was an overload of protein in the water. All i did was a 50% water change every second day for a week and they were gone.

    Hope that helps :)

Also i added an airstone thinking that would help but when i turned it out it stirred up so many bubbles that would not pop it looked like a jacuzzi so just a heads up there.

    Hi All

Just an update on my tank regarding the excessive bubbles that occurred on my water level, after some couple of water changes, I managed to get rid of the bubbles.

Thanks for all the advice that we're given
