Where DO I get the eggs from? And how on earth do I fit a heater into half a coke bottle?

LoL - you guys are too much :D

    It is only a pleasure.

PS: I did warn you that the brineshrimp eggs don't come cheap and a birdie has told me that apparently they are expected a shortage very soon if not sooner - so stock up! :)

    Oh dear...

Speaking of brine shrimp, has anyone heard of NT Labs? I bought some of their decapsulated brine shrimp in solution. It is supposed to yeild a 1 million egg hatch. But I tried it and nothing.

I normally buy live shrimp, but this weekend was the first time my supplier turned me away because he is keeping them for the marine guys with the seahorses. Almost bought a seahorse just to get shrimps LOL

It sounds a little excessive. It also depends on the hatch rate and quality of the eggs though......

Carping how much were you charged for the live brineshrimp???

Thats a bit difficult to quantify Veegal. Payed R10 for a bag that holds about 6 cups of shrimp (with water)
So what is a average price for about 50 grams of eggs?

We currently pay in the region of R400-R580 for approximately 480g (I think that is the quantity - I'll have to check the weight when I get home though).

Could be that I was wrong too on the weight. Will have to go and double check. Might have been 250 gr

i used their product for a while.Very expensive compared to the eggs.
Yes it is expensive for a big bottle but i got an LFS in p-town that put some into little pill bottles.(They probably make a killing but spread over a year it is fine by me.)

I've seen live brine shrimp in two places in Pretoria. Pet Stop and Exclusive Pets. Should be about R10 for a bag.

As for the hatching of the eggs, can't you keep them alive in a tank and let the critters breed?

Some pics of your setup would be much appreciated Veegal :)

I had some of them(adults) the guy said that I should place them in my fridge the cooler water help with reproduction but nothing happened so I took them out placed them in a dark cool place and then something happened started seeing small ones but they started dying the adults so I dont know if it were because of the water or what because the guy said that you can leave them in the same water but the water got a brown colour so maybe I have done something wrong

    Can someone say what???

Pet stop is a sponsor here on TASA, so maybe contact them directly, and Exclusive Pets is in Centurion, in the Bazaruto center near the mall.
