I find a margarine container in a sunny windowsill works well. I can tell you 22 x 5 ml spoons of salt into a 5L container give the correct salinity. You would just need a BS net then and a turkey baster for harvesting

How long do you keep it until it hatches?

The eggs hatch in 3 or 4 days, really depends on the temperature.

I hatched mine like this, the big tank was for dumping the salt water and I was harvesting from there whilst raising another batch in the bottle.

Was wrapped in tinfoil on top to keep heat in as well as reduce splashing from the bottle, larger tank also had an airline with a heater installed at 22C

Normal room temperature works well. If its colder then they just take longer to hatch

Thank you @TheGrissom - I am not sure why I have been battling hatching them. Been running since last week Friday

If you guys want i could try 3D print a few for you to try. The only thing that's missing is the screw cap. I am not 100% sure the expected pressures though so it will be more of a trial run.

Just to be absolutely sure you are doing everything correctly:

    • Buy aquarium salt
    • Add 22 x 5 ml spoons to 5L of water (you can adjust volumes to suit your needs i.e. 4 x 5m spoons to 1L). Allow the salt to dissolve (I leave it overnight).
    • Take any container, add BS eggs and then add the salt water
    • Place in a sunny windowsill
Thats it. It they still arent hatching then its probably your BS eggs. I store mine in the fridge, never had any problems.

Anything you want... Besides tinkering with 3D printing and my Aquarium and household work (Thanks to covid) I need things to keep my busy. I'm going crazy sitting at home the whole day.

I have a suggestion ....what about 3D aquarium back grounds ? I am sure there will definitely be a market for that.

Yeah, the issue is the build volume and design. I have played around with it but do not like it all that much. You will need to paint it as well and to be honest i am not 100% sure what paint will be "Aquarium safe" I could design a modular system that interlocks giving you freedom to play with the design though but that will be for a new thread.
