I have never had any fish lay eggs and that is the next thing I want to attempt. I have done some research and Angels seem to be the best bet with the hardware I currently have. I have a 120l tank that will be suitable.

Will this be a good start?

Oh, the filter I have circulates 600l per hour. I think that will be to much for the angels, the current generated by the filter my tire the fish. Can I use a corner filter instead?

Angels are quite easy to breed. Put them in the new tank, and let them "do their thing".
A 120L tank is good. Do you have another tank to grow the fry out in?

    600L/hr sounds quite strong.
A gentle sponge filter may be a better idea.

    I glanced through that article.
    It does seem good advice.

You need to have partience. It can take them a few goes to get it right.
Don't over crowd the youngsters, it will stunt them
Be stringent with culling runts/deformed ones
Lots of high protein food will help them grow quickly.

60L is not big enough imo
The fry will out grow that quickly - particularly if you have a large batch, or multiple batches before you move them on

The lfs is not going to want to take them when they are too small

You can start them in a small tank.
But they need to be thinned out as they get bigger. In a matter of weeks.
If you don't, water conditions will get compromised, and the fry will be stunted and sick.

No way of avoiding that unfortunately

Personally I would prefer bigger ones.

Bear in mind that they can lay hundreds of eggs. So even if 50 or so survive. That many 2cm Angels in 60L is way too crowded

Yes grow out tanks will be needed. I like four foots. U can easily fill 3 of them. Also for best results hatch BBS then move to other foods. Sponge filters will be fine but you will have to stay on top of water changes. They should be sellable 2-3 months. Good luck hope it goes well. Please post pic of the pair when u can. Also are u sure u getting male and female.

I still need to go shop. I am pretty sure I will be able to sex them (the bigger ones). I googled a couple of images. But mistakes can be made.

The easiest way I can tell the difference is by the 'bump' on the head. The male has the bump and the female not.

That's not conclusive. Some males get them and some not.
One of the best ways of finding a compatible pair is to buy a batch of 6 or so youngsters, grow them out, and let them pair up on their own. And then move the rest on.

You guys say I must use a sponge filter. I have a spare corner filter, will it work?

None of my platinum males (x3) have the bump on the head. Only by albino male has it. As Reedfish said, best bed is to get a couple of juveniles and raise them up.

How you you know when they choose their own male or female?

The pair will stick together and fight with all the others and chase them away.
