    It was goodbye Ton Sai

    Hello Sarawak

Man I am going to miss the bandwidth of Thailand, 20MB up and down - and that in Ton Sai.

Since I am dealing with very slow internet access in Sarawak .. do not expect loads of images like the lot I could dump form JJ-Mall.

Bandwidth aside - I might have found a new must go to place.

Now this does become tricky. i am really bad with identifying green things .. what makes it worst is that i believe positive identification of many of these type of plants need to see the plant flowering.

These are all pics from a quick local walk in a park.

That looks alot like good scaping rock -- or landfill.

I just got on the trail, had rain and thunder the entire way- so photo's might have some artistic water drops on the lens.

    Plant diversity is crazy.

Yeah maybe doing the trail on my own in rain was not the best idea, but man that was fun.

    @f-fish,

Did you get to Mount Kinabalu?
I have always wanted to see some of the Nepenthes (pitcher plants) that grow there.
    Some spectacular species.

So if you think that Kucking had slow internet ... Mulu had near nothing not even edge ;-).

So back to Kuching and the rainy hike.

a lovely stream in the park made for some fun scouting, not that I am at all sure I know what I was looking for.

some thing did get me a little excited at what the possibility was.

Pssst see those small leave just under the water level?

    Was not really convinced.

    What if
    [IMG]

I do not know .. loads of spiders and insects on the rocks at the stream edge.

Most moss seem to grow above the water, looks good right.

Because of the rain and the flash flood warnings I decide to to explore any further up the waterfall.

    One day - maybe.
This one also had me wondering.

Either way - these pics are the "aquatic" highlights .. but I saw so much more in this park.

It has actually inspired me to go and see what else the rainforest in Borneo might have for me...

So off I went to Mulu, no plans or expectation - other than flying into airport that was to small for anything bigger than an ATR 72 to land.

It sure can be ... I went a little blind into this. Not the right gear, camera or actual planning so feeling my way around would be how i would describe this for sure. Sitting on some bandwith at the moment - let me see if I can add some other pics - all related to the concept of water - Borneo and plant of course. For myself this at a trip to actually plan and see what I want to really do on my next vacation whenever that should happen.

Kuching was a great first experience of Bornei but time to move on
    [IMG]

Mulu - as many of the parks have "paths" and they are all very well maintained - so one might not expect to find much in theme park driven jungles - right?

It all depends if you can keep your eyes open for the small interesting things I suppose.

and one could get tank inspiration from anything - I now get what Takashi Amano was on about.

Not everything one sees in a a wet environment like a rain forest will grow under water, I do think - especially after spending time here that what we do in our planted tanks are actually rather unnatural, hence we need to draw inspiration from nature.

From things that might not be relevant to this forum / thread

    to those that are

with dreams of what could be

    but maybe it is not

As I said before - not the best gear for this trip .. but very glad I could experince it.

It is all the same and yet so diverse.

    Very nice
Have you not seen any Nepenthes (pitcher plants) ?
Borneo is a hot spot for them.

I saw one - but will need to get better photo's did see loads of

the one leaf only plant ...

and rocks with creating scape ideas
    [IMG]

    with clear streams to explore

Careful where you put your hand
    [IMG]
Snakes are everywhere - I actually stopped taking photos of them - not because they are not interesting, but because you are drawn to them.

    Bad idea - right?

Still I kept looking - hopping that maybe I will happen to see some thing a bit more familiar.

And then - a very familiar white flower ....

    - now the real story begins.
