    Hi All,

One of the gourami's in my community tank is very bloated. I have read on the web that this could be constipation or something more severe.

Does anybody have any ideas or experience with this ?

I have tested my water and everything is perfect.

I have added a couple of handfuls of aquarium salt and upped the temp to 29 degrees.

@RoGe. I feed them a mix of Aquafin granules and floating cichlid pellets. I also give them Aquafin bottom feeder pellets and blood worms now and then. They are part of a community tank...that is why all the different types of food.

I also fed freeze dried shrimp once or twice in the last two weeks to get my tyretrack to start eating again. He is now eating fine.

    Fixed

In my experience, Gourami's are little piggies (well my Dwarf Gourami is at least....). He's always the first to eat, and always the last! As a result, mine is a bit overweight, but all in all very happy and active. Are you sure this isn't the case, or is the fish presenting worrying symptoms?

@BadgerBadger. They do eat more than their fair share... but he/she is now not eating and not moving around a lot. Still active...but not as much. I will see if I can take a photo and post.

Have you tried feeding it some mushed up peas with a bit of garlic mixed in? Mine gets a soft pea once every now and then to keep everything "regular"

More the juices, so rather mash a bit of garlic first then rub it onto the peas.

Leen, I'd try to feed less protein and more vegs (blanched / cooked lettuce / spinach). Gouramis in te wild feed for a big part on algae aso. The diet given is only protein !!!
