    Hi All!

i have a bit of an issue...

I have a possibly sick comet in my pond...

it is incredibly bloated! it has been like this for a guess 2 months now?

at first i thought the fish was carrying eggs, however with so much time having passed i am now sure it is something else.

the fish is from head to end of tail i guess 26cm

the fish still swims around and eats happily, but its clear something is not right...
    please see attached photo.

i have done some reading on this but i am new to tropical fish keeping and need some help.

    Regards
    Keith

    That's some bad bloating.

I would feed him a few boiled peas and then stop feeding for a few days.

You might want to consult a Koi specialist, peas act as a laxative and can prevent some stomach problems with most fish.

You can feed it to them once a week with their usual diet.

Note:This is not a solution, just a prevention of possible future stomach problems.

He/She could be pregnant,Eggbound, impacted and in worse case he/she could have dropsy.

Pregnant, they get bloated but not as much as your Koi.

Egg impacted, this is when the Koi keeps building up eggs but there are no Mature males around or not enough males around. Koi Males usually corner the female then kinda like Ram her to get the eggs out.

Dropsy is easy to identify, all the Scales will be standing out and you should be able to identify it at first sight.

It might also be a tumor.

Some of us here keep Koi but i think you would find the best advice on a Forum dedicated to Koi.
