black phantom tetra male breathing heavly

hey guys need some help whit my male hes the only one breathing heavily in the tank been happening last 3 day and his breathing been increasing more and more(hes mouth opens and closes rapidly) . hes eating hes swimming with the rest of the school . normal color . should i put him in a hospital tank ? what could be the possible diseases i need to treat for ? thank you for call the help

i do 15 % WC daily on a drip system
nitrate 0
ammonia 0
nitrite 0
PH 7.8
temperature 28-30

tested 10 mints ago

tanks been running 8 months and hes been in it for 6 months

 

Also need to add that i have an spundge filter (ran by air ) and a box filter also blowing air into the aqaurium

What fish do you have in your tank with the black phantoms? A PH of 7.8 is a bit on the high side. The temp of 28-30 for black phantom tetras is to high, neat to drop it to 26 deg. The heavy breathing is a sign of to little oxygen in the water. The higher the temp the less is the oxygen in the water. Use a air stone to oxygenate your water and drop the temp. No need for meds.
Do you use Co2?

 

@Pierer Henning neon tetras 2 bristol nose catfish and upside down catfish.i lower the temp to 24 . I dont use any co2 .i have got a lot of air in the tank but will brop an airstone to see if it makes a diffrence . The funny part is hes the only one in the tank breathing like this all the other are fine

 

Them 25 ,there is no change in his condition also added another air stone. Also he is isolating himself

 

What about gill fluke? You may need to isolate and treat him if you introduced anything to the aquarium lately..

His condision turned alot worse i got him in a hospital tank treating with metroplex

 

Paragard may be a better option than metroplex as flukes are a parasite (little worm-like things with hooks that damage the gills).. Here are a few sites with various information:

Gill fluke is notoriously difficult to get rid of.. Keep an eye on your other fish, and if they start flitting (knocking themselves on stones or anything) or any other symptoms, start treatment early (salt water baths may still be effective early on)..
