Rather not... I've seen them being kept successfully before with Oscars, but have more frequently heard of more... er.. 'grim' experiences when the two have been mixed.

I know they are definitely compatible with: clown loaches, danios, gouramis, mollies, platies, plecos, rainbows, silver dollar, sword tails....:boring: YAWN!!!!!!! Some updated tank mates.... Torpedo barbs, Panchax, Congo Tetras, Ctenopoma and African Butterfly Fish... Wow!!! I had to google some of those!!! Thanks to everyone for helping.... NOW.. to get my new system up and going, or should that be "growing"!!! All this to suit one BGK!!!!

He He.... I know they devour neons!!!!! I had 15.... down to 9!!! :sad2: They are such peace loving fish.... calm and shy! But, with time, you can have them eating out of your hand.... literally!

Yup, mine eats from my hand. When I put the frozen fish in (mainly for the Reeds, but te Knife also likes is), sometimes it's still a bit frozen. So I hold it under the water for a few mins to thaw a bit. And my knife comes and pecks at it between my fingers.
My Zebra Knife is also very tame, and often does the same thing.

I have 2 and apparently they should not be in the same tank as their EM fields mess with each other.

It is possible to keep the two together, however, only if you have plenty of space. Otherwise, yes, you are correct in wanting to keep it one-per-tank.

I was told by Shawn that if you keep ur bgk well feed
And also a light on at night the tetra will see it and move
The bgk is a night hunter. But love this fish to bits

I have a pair of these wonderful fish and they are so great that they both sleep in the ship together, even though he is over 30cm and she is still under.

Mine are just stunning, they take food from my hand as well as allow me to stroke them... They are just the best fish ever. The other day I saw a Golden Ghost Knife fish, very unusual colouring and I was very tempted but I know I can only keep a maximum of 2 and the size that mine have grown to, I could never introduce a baby in with them....

    They are fantastic fish.

I have seen photos of an albino form.
And my lfs had some with a very narrow dorsal fin.
