Last month I posted a thread entitled "huge lump on my black ghost fish" with photos of the lump. This lump is apparently a tumor.
    I got no replies.
He is now inactive {breathing, but not moving}so not eating. I suspect he will be dead very soon.
This would give me the opportunity of taking a clear photo of the fish and
hopefully someone can identify the problem/disease/virus or whatever.
I have read that epson salts could have helped, that the tumor could have been cut out, but without professional advise I have attempted nothing.

You have to understand that fish, like pretty much any other living organism, can fall prey to illnesses like cancer - which may be the case here. Unfortunately, I haven't heard of any specialist vets in South Africa that are trained to perform operations on fish, so I can't help you with that regard.

If all your options are exhausted, the last thing you can do is to put your fish out of its misery and to euthanize it, either by severing it's spinal cord or overdosing it in clove oil.

Thanks guys. I will put him to sleep IF I am able to get him out the tank.
He has wedged himself between two large rocks but is still able to dart off
    if disturbed.

To my surprise this fish allowed me to handle it. While lying in my hand
I was able to use a blade to cut into what had been a round lump. Nothing came out the cut as there is no longer a lump, but just a sack of loose skin. He is over 40cm long and I would love to be able to save this fish.

If you say that the fish looks ok the leave him and see what happeneds in the next few weeks, maybe you are lucky and he pulls through this.
