    Hey Fishy people.

So all but one of my tanks have those stock black canopies on them currently and 2 in particular are giving me issues with water dripping down sides of the tanks.

Any solutions to this? Open to some wild ideas as well

I have this too, I've used a towel to just catch the condensation.

My wild idea at the moment is to simply build new lids for my tank, I'm tired of the evaporation to be honest.

I put a rim of silicone along on the inside, before the drops can reach the edge. Allows it to drip inside the tank.

Having glass sliders is a more expensive option, but catches the condensation earlier and has many other benefits as well.

If you don't have jumpy fish you can raise the lids a little so air can pass underneath. There's no condensation then.

    You could install drip trays.
Essentially sheets of glass just about the level of the water

My lids are lifted a bit, no dripping down the side of the tank. If I remove the lids, there will be some water.

I use some sealing foam. Stick it around the sides. Cause a tight fit of the lid but no dripping. 33e1b5b18324b91fe368f912efdc421a.jpg

My 30l tank is dry, my 120l tank is wet and my 210l tank has a piece of glass over that is also dry.

Keep in mind, my two smaller tanks is heated and the bigger tank is a cold water tank that is currently running at +-25deg.

Do this except put the foam on the edge above so that the foam rest on the rim of the tank and then no drips will occur

I also use the foam around the edge on these tanks with black canopy.
    Works well for me

I would place a small 12V fan like used on pc and psu. This would extract the build up of condensation in the lid and also help with gas exchange. This is if your willing to make a hole in your lid. Also this would assist with drawing out warm/hot air assisting with maintaining tank temp.

At a computer store buy a 12 v laptop or cpu fan, about R50-00 , the small one. Those buggers are super silent. At china shop get a 220/12 v transformer, R80-00. About 2 m length of thin speaker wire or twinflex. Now cut a hole in the back of the lid, install the fan with 4 tiny bolt & nut. Remember to place the fan that it extracts the air from the canopy. No more condensation.

What I have managed to do on my 3foot tank was put a bead of silicone on the front panel only. While creating a water tight seal at the front it also raised the sides to allow for air to pass and now the tank does not drip at all.

The tank I'm having a problem with at the moment is a 1foot with my betta. I put the bead of silicone on the front pane but now it is leaking from the back. I was thinking about putting silicone on the back panel as well then?

Glass sliders are out of the question for me right now...

Where would I find a drip tray? Do these come ready made or would I have to build it? Also would that not pose a problem when feeding or for gas exchange?

I'm loving the foam Idea hey. What type is it and where could I get it?

Installing a fan is also not an option for me as I'm not willing to cut my lids

I buy the foam from builders express (hardware store) it is used to seal windows/sliding doors if i'm not mistaken. Comes in a roll. One side is sticky with a sticker paper you pull of when fitting.
