Anybody has any or seen them round in shops lately? I remember them from back in the '80 and '90s, but have not seen any recently.

    Black , Black, or Black?

    :p

I'll try to reply regarding the Garden route-Western Cape-Eastern Cape area...coz you're RIGHT in the middle - somewhere thereabouts ?????

There must be some Black Angels around....even BETTER than those from wayback.

    BTW
Our friend:blink1:, in George, had a REALLY NICE strain of mostly Straight/Veil Black which he raised along with Discus, Hoplo Cats, LyreTail Swords between until he parted with his entire hatchery operation.
THOSE intermittently yielded Gold Angels, which perplexed him to no end. THEY in turn gave their new owners BONUS Black Angels whenever they raised enough fry from a spawn.

MOST of those fish came to CT, around 1996

New quality stock has come INTO, and THROUGH Cape Town , at least 4times this year.
Many of those went to LFS through a wholesale-distributor, and that's just through ONE of the 2 outlets here.
More could have moved through...and from Joburg importers/breeders as well.

    Strange that you asked NOW:
I haven't slept yet, because LAST night, I received and unpacked MORE than a FEW Black TYPES:
Double Dark Black, Black Lace, Zebra Black Lace, Black Clown, Double Dark Black Veil, Black Blushing...NOT many of each but in total a good number of them.

They were delivered to a wholesaler distributor.

Black angels were/are notorious for weakness, genetically and phenotypically. Quite a challenge to keep, breed and raise.....

VERY encouraging, is the new crop of young European and some Asian fish which are already being bred within 2-5months of initial imports.

I may even post some pics of new stock, over in TheWaterZoo forum, if I get a chance. If you're interested in obtaining some excellent quality specimens, of a specific description, then you may contact me by pm.

    Attached pic :
Some Black Angels, with the 2 palest:bigsmile: , right in the centre. I took that pic about 2weeks ago.

    Pardon my non-existent pic skills
By now, you gather, I use a 5y old celcam:eek:

    Hi Liqua

Thanx for the reply, good to know they are still around, maybe not flavor of the day, but still there, imo they and the wild type are the most attractive.

    Well you asked...

Anywhere between R39.00-85.00 is expected . Depends on size, source, quality, AND markup-policy I suppose?

Hey ,YOU asked, and I just happened to know abit about it, that's all.

    Talk about extremes, hey?
    " wild-type" to pitch-black....

ALL other combos, inbetween, all have their followers...and haters... and always will....:blink1:
