Biggest fish u have own!

My fire eel is around 50cm now.

The tank is +- 450lt. its a square footprint so he has lots of room to swim around. The kak on the bottom normally gets picked up by the filter overnight and the gravel is clean in the morning, most of that is from the bloody common plecos, I swear they can crap twice their body weight a day :blink1:

The tank he is in now is the same size but its made of glass this time, the one in the video was a plywood and acrylic build.

Yes, he packs away about 30 earthwoms in one go now. I feed him worms once a week and cut up prawns twice a week. They can be shy at times but this guy swims around in the open whenever I sit next to the tank. No one has ever told him he is a nocturnal fish :laugh:

He is actually an amazing conversation starter. If i have new guests at my place I dont tell them that he is in there and they sit next to the tank admiring my Malawis, he comes and swims around right next to them generally when they are not looking. The utter amazement and awe on their faces is incredible when he pops up and they look at the tank again and he is swimming around right next to their face.

I see pet masters in boksburg had a few last week for R320.00. I generally will not buy fish from them but I have never seen a fire eel anywhere else.

A pet store here in Pretoria also has one in their tanks, not for sale though, but I love going there just to look at him. They really do appear out of nowhere!
