So after much thought, I would like to add a school of about 6 rummy nose tetras, to my betta setup to provide a bit more movement. I suppose I could live with neon tetras as well but after having a bad experience with them, where they brought in ich and finrot into one of my earlier tanks, and I lost almost everything, I've got a bit of a thing against them. Anyway are either of these tetra species ok to house with my crowntail and the 3 ladies that will be joining him?

by the way, found a great way to watch my khulis feed, put a bit of polystyrene over the tank and turn the lights on, makes it seem like twilight and out come my khulis, its awesome, hehe.

Careful with tetra's and betta's. Tetras are fin nippers. And if the rummy noses or Neons are small enough, the betta will try eat them. I lost an entire school of neons about a year ago due to my bad matching skills.

This is what I'm worried about Zoom. The last thing I want, is for someone to get hurt.
Is there anything else I can use, thats peaceful, colourful and not a fin nipper?

    a few female betta's?

Seriosuly... most fish are incompatble with Betta's... having said that, my community tank has a male betta in and 4 females, and I have no hassles.

This is one of the reasons I don't keep bettas any more! Tank mates are just too awkward! What size is the tank? I'm guessing that you want something to fill in the space between the betta at the top, and the bottom of the tank? Neons tend to stay at the bottom too much to be of use! I have never noticed rummy's fin nipping, but they do need a good area to swim in, so they are probably out too? I'll have a think about this one? It really depends on tank size? Cheers! G!

How about a school of pygmy corydoras that will leave alot more space for your betta and also fill the bottom and middle sections of your tank nicely, and they are so cute!!

Thats what I'll be doing. Im getting mine from Dolphin soon.

they beatiful and very tempting im rather fond of cories but would worry that they would out compete my two khulis for food as they only come out at night. zoom i am getting 3 females from dolphin as soon as the shipment arrives, 2 halfmoons and a crowntail but thought a small school of something small and bright would bring interest and movement to the tank. big g the tank is custom built, 580 x 410 x 250 high, its slightly shallower than the average tank but not by too much.
