bettas and guaramis

hey all so went to have a look at lighting at my local lfs (quote was R180 for the globe and ballast less than i thought) and they have some red robin guaramis which i thought looked pretty cool, id like to get one or two and need to know if my betta would be a suitable tank mate. they had a couple of other fish that id love to get but alas what i give for a bigger tank lol. also does anyone know of lfs that stock plants in and around joburg? the lfs i usually go to dont stock anymore because of problems with their grower. if not il be schleping to pta again to buy at animal kingdom or that one after safari garden centre.

Betta's can be suitable companion with guorami, but it depends on the betta's temperament. I had a betta in a community tank for a long time. When he died i replaced him with another, and he was NOT suitable in community.

Plants are available from animal kingdom in Hillfox, pet shop in Westgate, Fish Fantasy World in Honedew. But why don't you try Dolphin, he has very good healthy plants, and great advice and service.

 

great looks like it'll be safe , my betta is already in a community and he seems to be doing well doesnt say boo or baa to the other fish i was worried about fin nipping.

i have sent a pm to dolphin for an address to plug into the gps as i tend to get very lost quite easily lol iv even gotten lost while using the gps and ended up in the middle of soweto. the light il be getting today along with the gourami and pepper cory, and then il get the plants, i want to try get everything settled before i leave for holiday next weekend, doesnt leave alot of time i know but there you go im nothing if not a doer of last minute things lol i think i get it from my dad. i have got a re-exam on friday so il be in pta again so il probably get my plants then, i quite like the place after safari garden centre, pond and somthing, pet i think, their plants are also good quality and il have my light by then. oy looking at it now i have a mountain of stuff to get through.

 

and the lord said let there be light and lo there was lol, my light looks awesome and the guirami is settling in nicely along with the new pepper cory, who is 3 times smaller than my other two bronzes lol, i think il call him pip, fred george and pip. i like it lol

 

pip, as in pipin, or pip like the british southpark kid who gets picked on ?

Pet a Pond has nice stock in that plant tank, i found out Pet City Montana also has a nice bigish plant selection at better prices it seems.

Oh, beware if you buy those black ferns from petapond, they are FULLY stocked on ramshorn snail eggs, gooey jelly batches all over. Thats whats preventing me from buying them.

 

yeah i bought my last watersprite from there and was really impressed with their plant set up, pet and pond i mean. well im going to pta tomorrow as alas i have a re exam so i might pop in and see what i can get. as for pip i was thinking maybe bruce would be better lol, fred george and bruce, my ma thinks iv gone totally mad lol. hes only just over 1cm long and my others are about 4 or 5 so poor bruce is likely to be picked on lol.

 

i bought another bronze the other day, way smaller than the rest, no worries, it/he/she did fine and is sizing up nicely

 

yeah marvin my bristlenose pleco is more of a bully than the other corys he delights in chasing everyone away from his rock lol. hes getting big i might have to find a new home for him next year :-(
